Study Your Opponent
Study the entire roster. Know each batter’s position, strike rate, scoring areas, handedness, and recent form. Know each bowler’s economy, dot-ball rate, pace, line, length, angle, and usual rotation. Use that information to build matchups.
Prepare a captaincy sheet. Predict their batting order and bowling rotation, then plan your batting and bowling around them. Identify 5-6 match-winning bowlers. Dedicate the remaining players to batting so everyone has a clear role and fully participates.
Use No. 3 and No. 4 to give weaker batsmen opportunities while keeping the openers and finishers strong.
Estimate par score from the ground, pitch, weather, wind, opposition, and your own team. When batting, aim 20% above par. When bowling, keep them 20% below it.
